IMRAN KHAN: THE ECONOMIST ARTICLE

In the future, I plan to publish an article every Monday with the aim of offering high-quality reading material for my audience. Together, in this journey we have to grow. It is up to movements that make history – All of you must participate

A likely explanation for The Economist publishing Imran Khan’s article could be linked to Khan’s insistence on free and fair elections as a condition for his agreement to sign the 2022 IMF funding deal. The Economist gesture may be for the IMF to secure Khan’s signature for future rounds of IMF funding. Khan’s endorsement will shield the IMF’s lending from odious debt claims.

Should Imran Khan (IK) become a signatory to IMF’s future funding, he annuls his political stance. Khan’s existence is conditional to their demands. Virtually this means, no IK—their principal demand. Previously, IK in his naïve good faith went along with Bajwa, not realizing who his enemies were. IK claims, he is a different man. Signing loan guarantees for the IMF at any cost are unlikely.

In The Economist article, Khan has spoken with broad humanism. Khan’s letter will hold historic significance of a movement as the Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter from Birmingham Jail.” In this letter, written in 1963, one of the aspects was to raise peaceful protest and commit to civil disobedience. By the end of this year, Khan’s followers, his youth will add political color to their political struggle. Explained later.

PTI Chairman Elect Barrister Gohar Ali Khan gave a statement to media, planting doubts whether Imran Khan was the author of January 04, 2024, article published in The Economist. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan said, “He [Imran Khan] is in Jail, he [IK] cannot say [to The Economist] this is my article, I have written…”

While it may be somewhat accurate to assert that IK remains challenged in judging people’s character, using this perpetual deficiency as the sole basis to question the nomination of Party Chair Barrister Gohar Ali is an erroneous conclusion. Imran Khan is fully cognizant of the potential risks associated with PTI’s office bearers, and the selection of Barrister Gohar Ali was a deliberate and tactical decision with known risks. I am confident Barrister Gohar’s statement has not surprised Khan.

In the face of the challenging circumstances posed by the Colonial Defense Force (CDF), a fascist regime of Pakistan that has adopted Intifada-2 tactics, which involve bulldozing homes belonging to the targeted individuals and utilization of military courts as the extended arm of occupation..

The country should be prepared to expect an average person crumbling before the CDF tactics. Barrister Gohar Ali Khan’s value to PTI and PM Khan’s cause to fight for true freedom is compromised. The Pakistani people have lost confidence in Barrister Gohar Ali. Future compromises and people losing confidence in the person(s) is to be expected.

IK is likely the only individual in Pakistan that cannot be compromised from threats. Usually, the weak point, one’s children in the case of IK, are likely under the protection of the Western establishment. Khan may value his other relationships, but for Pakistan all are expendable. The people are aware of this fact.

This article’s focus is on the goals and the course of action of the CDF and the option available for Pakistanis to get rid of the fascist regime. What I opine is not my advice. It is a strategic assessment as to what Pakistan is facing and what could work in winning this fight planted by IK.

The Objective of the CDF is to suppress the struggle of PTI through any available means. Knowing well the Western world will look the other way, these means will not be concealed. The goal is enslaving people in the occupied territory (Pakistan) by diminishing their pride, hope and freedom struggle, mainly from instilling fear in the populace.

Fear stands out as the primary weapon of choice, as the upper echelons of the CDF recognize the impact of fear on them, stemming from the success of threats of the Western powers. Their understanding of the consequences of fear on themselves informs them of their reliance on it as a tool to exert control over the populace.

Asim Munir and his comrades within CDF are detached from reality because they are seeing blood. It is clear that authorities are simply not going to change their minds and submit to the will of the people. It has been always the case.

In the case of Third World democracies, and specifically in Pakistan, think tanks and experienced individuals’ adept at subjecting countries to imperialism, as seen, serve as coaches to the upper echelon of the CDF. Expecting international assistance without awareness and without the pressures of a movement is out of the question.

It is up to movements that make history; everyone must engage. The attempt to allocate candidates to PTI for the upcoming elections, being a part of a yet-to-develop movement, is bound to falter. This is because PTI’s political slate does not align with the inclusive participation of “all” characteristic of a genuine movement. The slate as you know will be decapitated and infiltrated.

For a movement to begin, “’Go where the silence is.’ And say something.” Taken from Amy Goodman, Democracy Now. Islam asks to say something in your hearts if your courage would stop you from being vocal. It is critical today that you say something, added Goodman.

I have emphasized importance of a movement in my recently published book to reclaim America. My views about movement are, “The existence of a grassroots movement is not about awareness; it is about recognizing a transformative idea that becomes the people’s idea, their cause and their passion to seek their well-being—justice and the good of mankind. We are Americans and we must stand undivided to bring justice for all. “

The 1942 movement of the White Rose Collective was not to cause any injury to human life. The Message was, “We will not be silent”

The White Rose Collective is about a movement started by two youthful individuals. Hans and Sophie Scholl. They were siblings. Hans was the older brother of Sophie, ages fifteen and thirteen respectively. They were faced with a challenge, what can you do in the face of Nazi’s atrocities?  They decided, the least they can do is to get out the information the Germans could never say they did not know.

The first leaflet of The White Rose Collective

A series of leaflets were published and they tossed the leaflets from buildings. The first four leaflets were published in succession in June and July 1942. The first leaflet said, “Nothing is less worthy of a cultivated people: than to allow itself to be governed by a clique of irresponsible bandits of dark ambition, without Resistance.” –University of Pennsylvania.

All people of conscience “will not be silent”

Hans and Sophie Scholl new the risk they were running. “Sophie had even said shortly before: ‘So many people have already died for this regime that it’s time someone died against it.”–Id.  They were eventually caught. A special Nazi judge, “Roland Freisler, Hitler’s hanging judge,” was flown in for a closed trial. The hearing started on February 22, 1943, from 9 AM until 1:00 PM. The verdict was a foregone conclusion: death by the guillotine.

The moral, now is the time to fight the CDF’s insistence on close trials and military courts as the extended arm of occupation

After the verdict, momentous dialogs took place between the parents and Hans and Sophie. I share only Sophie’s. Her mother said, ”’I’ll never see you come through the door again. ‘Oh mother,’ she answered, ‘after all, it’s only a few years’ more life I’ll miss’.”

Sophie’s main concern was, “her mother should be able to withstand the deaths of two children at the same time. But, for herself, she was completely composed.” On February 22, 1943, by 6:00 PM, in “terrifying speeds” both were dead.

To each is own. Allies were already bombing Gestapo Headquarters and Munich. The Gestapo’s rule was ending, but protestors had to be squashed. A similar fate Pakistanis are expected to face if they remain idle and looked up to the Justices as did the inexperienced Imran Khan.

If the inhabitants in the geography of the province of Punjab was swapped by the people from KP province, Pakistan would never have met this fate from the deeds like Gestapo, and if they did, the gang of CDF would have succumbed to a thousand blazing guns.

Freedom For The Thought That We Hate, by Anthony Lewis is a biography of freedom to speech cases. You do what you think is proper, but silence is not. The outspoken mothers of Punjab are undoubtedly brave. Evidence of their conviction to fight the twenty first century Gestapo is seen in Ms. Dar, Usman Dar’s mother.

Respectful of the law, in the United States, many individuals find their freedom of speech in the silence of their open-carry (uncounseled) sidearms. However, these individuals do not want to die in the lack of silence. History necessitated guns in the American culture and for a noble reason.

From the American history, I predict the youth of Punjab will soon bear arms. Sidearms draped around the femur flesh. The youth’s utter respect for “their” law will remain, as they are beholding to peaceful demonstrations today. The people’s law to uphold the color of new political thought.

The males from Punjab couldn’t protect their women from the fascist’s physical attacks. I found those scenes unbearable to witness. I anticipate that the young females from the Punjab province will set the trend to openly carry unregistered sidearms to advocate for their democratic struggle. Examples abound.

The Irish War of Independence (1919-1921): Constance Markievicz and Mairead Farrell played active roles in armed resistance and paramilitary activities against the British government.

The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939): Many women joined the International Brigades. Like La Pasionaria (Dolores Ibárruri), fought on the front lines.

The Second World War (1939-1945): Women like Nancy Wake and Jan Karski participated actively in armed resistance against Nazi forces.

The Palestinian Liberation Struggle: Leila Khaled, for example, was a member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) and became known for her role in hijacking airplanes as a form of political resistance.

Kurdish Women’s Movement: The Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) in Rojava (northern Syria) is an example where Kurdish women have taken up arms against various forces.

As far as the peaceful movements. Movements require an “educated” thought honed from higher order critical thinking. Afro-Americans did it; starting with Rosa Parks. She refused to surrender her seat in a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1955. The bus boycott started the symbol of resistance against racial segregation.

Majority of the Americans are unable to tell you how the black movement developed. The events of movement are cleverly replaced with “I have a dream” slogan of MLK, and is emphasized yearly to captivate them with the slogan and not with the process around developing movements.

In the town where Hans and Sophie found their resting place, graffiti on the wall said, “Their spirit lives.” This declaration has the potential to mark either the conclusion or the commencement of a movement.

  1. Excellent article to sum up doll drums of Pakistan military occupation of the country and brutality towards its own civilian population is very bad direction for Pakistan.
